ABOUT

Cardiff and Vale College (CAVC) is one of the largest and most dynamic colleges in the UK, delivering high-quality education and training across the Capital Region of Wales. With over 30,000 learners annually, CAVC offers a diverse range of full-time and part-time programmes at level 3 and above (pre-university and higher education) and Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) programmes including a significant apprenticeship provision. The college is committed to transforming lives through learning, fostering inclusivity, and developing young people ready to enter the workforce with the requisite skills and confidence, or to progress and flourish at university.

CAVC boasts modern facilities across multiple campuses, including its flagship City Centre Campus in Cardiff. In 2027 two new campuses come on stream in the Vale of Glamorgan: the Barry Waterfront Campus will focus on broader Further Education subjects; whilst the Advanced Technology Centre situated next to Cardiff Airport will specialise in STEM, advanced manufacturing and net zero. CAVC is the leading apprenticeship provider in the region, heading the Quality Skills Alliance to deliver training in priority sectors. Whether you’re a school leaver, adult learner, international student, or employer, Cardiff and Vale College provides inspirational learning experiences to meet your goals.

CAVC offers high quality full and part time education and training courses from Level 2 to Level 6 in a range of academic, vocational, technical and professional areas and work in partnership with employers, responding to their needs and equipping them with the skills needed today and for the jobs of tomorrow.

This strong domestic foundation and college scale has enabled CAVC to invest in and develop a growing global footprint overseas. Our dedicated International Team co-ordinates a diverse and exciting international offer with full backing from the college executive. CAVC works across the globe, with our main export countries aligned with the three key Global Wales priority countries of India, Vietnam, Canada, as well as continuing our long-standing operations in China and the Middle East.

CAVC supports the UKSP’s international mission by providing flexible, scalable and responsive solutions to address, for example, skill shortages and to support economic growth.

The CAVC education export offer includes:

  • End to end solutions – capacity/capability building via bespoke skills training programmes or in partnership with UK Awarding Bodies, and often co-created with the client to meet industry and employer needs and fill skills gaps where they exist;
  • Train the trainer programmes – to enhance pedagogy and student outcomes, in areas such as teaching performance, assessment literacy, and best practice in digital delivery;
  • Short courses, micro-credentials and immersion programmes for vocational teaching staff to enhance their skills and qualifications;
  • Employability and soft skills preparation – via its Career Confident module for international students;
  • Teacher professional development via the British Teaching Diploma, a Level 7 UK Awarding Body endorsed programme for teachers and educators working in overseas settings. A recent development is the new BTD (TVET) Diploma to be rolled out in September 2025 and targeted at practitioners in the TVET sector.
  • Higher education programmes via a range of HNDs, as well as two full degrees – a BSc in Cyber Security (with the University of West London) and a BEng in Aircraft Engineering (with Kingston University);
  • Curriculum development, internationalisation, professional courses and progression routes.

Joint programmes and transnational education partnerships, working in collaboration with further and higher education institutions overseas.

TVET capacity and capability building, projects such as the Going Global partnerships funded by the British Council in Botswana (solar energy) and Mauritius (green technologies).

Design and delivery of bespoke programmes for groups, working with a range of international partners delivering content, online, in person or via a blended approach. CAVC excels in the areas of teacher training, engineering, construction, net zero, hospitality, cyber security and soft skills development to help promote career development and reskill/upskill workforces around the world.

International student recruitment, for a wide range of Pre-University and Higher Education level programmes including A Levels, BTECs, HNDs and full degrees. CAVC acts as the immigration sponsor issuing its own CAS for suitably qualified international students.

English Language Training, via the CAVC English Academy (EA). The EA is ranked equal first in Wales (2023/24) and delivers year round courses in General English, Academic English, IELTS preparation and vocational English along with a range of English + programme such as our new English and football programme. For international students who seek to develop English language skills and other talents for further study, career development or as part of an immersive study travel experience, the EA is a great option.
