BEC.AR Project for Ministry of Education in the Republic of Argentina
Until 2017, there have been few official mechanisms for fully-funded UK-Argentinian academic mobility, making the UUKi-BEC.AR agreement a significant development in UK-Argentina relations.
Professionals from Argentina that are university graduates and that agree to return to work in Argentina for a minimum of two years are eligible to participate in the scheme.
UUKi acts as a point of assistance and guidance to BEC.AR scholars from the point of receiving their scholarship until their return to Argentina following completion of their course. UUKi also liaises with host UK institutions on behalf of BEC.AR for any issues pertaining to the students’ academic performance and/or well-being.
UUKi supports scholars in the admissions process to UK universities and provides back end administration support to the programme, as well as assisting scholars in navigating the accommodation booking, visa application and flight booking processes.
By working together through the BEC.AR scholarship programme to support the training and development of Argentine professionals in science and technology, UUKi and the Argentinian Ministry of Education have, through the scholarship scheme, strengthened UK-Argentina bilateral relations and scientific collaboration.
The partnership has facilitated and supported consecutive cohorts of around 15 Argentinian scholars to study Master’s courses at UK universities, with agreed return to work in Argentina.
