ABOUT
At sAInaptic, we believe assessment should be more insightful than ever—and we build the AI to make it so. Founded by a team blending academic rigour from Oxbridge and NHS-scale data science expertise, we’ve created a platform that automates marking of free-form answers, essays, reports, scenario-based case studies and multimedia e-portfolios, while matching human accuracy with less than 1% deviation.
For training providers, awarding organisations and EPA bodies, we give you a reliable co-pilot: one that saves time, reduces cost and lets you focus on what matters most, improving learner outcomes. But automation doesn’t mean one-size-fits-all. At sAInaptic, we start by listening: we work closely with your assessors, your questions, your rubrics and your domain, building a tailored AI that truly understands the concepts in the mark-scheme, not just keywords.
Whether you integrate via API into your learning management system, or launch a fully customised white-label portal, we ensure seamless onboarding and ongoing control: you review the work before it goes to learners. With sAInaptic you get smart technology, grounded in pedagogy and driven by data, so assessment becomes agile, transparent and impactful.
sAInaptic was founded by a team with a deep blend of academic, educational and data science expertise: Dr Rajeshwari Iyer and Kavitha Ravindran, supported by a technology lead, Dr Bram Vandekerckhove. Their mission is clear: to bring automated, AI-driven marking, feedback and analytics to free-form answers (essays, reports, scenario-based questions, e-portfolios) – not just multiple‐choice. Their name “sAInaptic” playfully references a synapse in the human brain, emphasising connection, insight and intelligent transfer of knowledge.
The platform they’ve built takes assessments (across sectors such as schools, training providers, awarding organisations) and applies an artificial intelligence model that goes beyond keyword checking. It learns from domain-specific rubrics, mark schemes and assessor behaviour to identify whether the underlying concepts are present. Once configured, it can mark open-ended student responses almost instantly, generate personalised feedback and supply analytic dashboards showing common misconceptions, performance trends and more. For clients this means potentially huge savings of assessor time, better consistency in marking and a route to more prompt learner feedback.
Although the company began with a focus on UK schools (for example GCSE Science open-ended questions) they have rapidly expanded into global and vocational assessments and training contexts. They report deployment in 50 + UK secondary schools and growing interest from exam boards, awarding organisations and international providers. Their API-based integration and white-label web solutions enable use in Learning Management Systems or stand-alone form, making them adaptable to different markets.
Looking ahead, sAInaptic is positioning itself to scale further in the B2B-assessment market: training providers, professional certification, apprenticeships and large awarding bodies. They emphasise that the demand for automated assessment of free-text responses is increasing, especially given the arrival of advanced language models and an increased focus on personalised, speedy feedback. Their evidence-led approach (including working with the EDUCATE programme to embed research mindset) means they are not just selling a technological “black box” but a tool built on data, pedagogy and measurable outcomes.
sAInaptic is an AI-assisted assessment and feedback solution that enables educators, trainers, and organisations to deliver instant, personalised feedback at scale – reducing workload, improving learner outcomes, supporting multimodal learning, and delivering measurable cost savings. We make marking smarter and feedback meaningful.
