Daniel became Policy Director at the Federation of Awarding Bodies in September 2024, bringing with him a wealth of experience in vocational education and skills policy.
Before joining the Federation, he spent nearly five years at the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education, where he played a key role in shaping apprenticeship development and policy, and contributed to the creation of the first T Level qualifications.
At the Federation, Daniel leads on skills policy and advocacy, working closely with awarding body members to champion their interests and influence national policy.
The Federation of Awarding Bodies is the trade association for the qualifications and assessment industry, and its mission is to improve qualifications and assessment in further education and skills for the benefit of members, learners, and customers.
The Federation’s members, UK awarding bodies and assessment organisations, design, develop, deliver, and award vocational and technical qualifications and assessments. They receive practical support, insight, and advocacy to help them to succeed in offering high-quality qualifications and assessments both in the UK and internationally.
Insight – we provide members with a wealth of specialist information and expertise to help their organisations succeed. From webinars delivered by leading experts and policy makers to sector news and advice on policy changes and the issues that impact on awarding and assessment organisation success.
Influence – working together with and on behalf of our members we place qualifications and assessment at the heart of government skills policy across the UK and overseas. We successfully shape the assessment and qualifications policies that are needed to drive innovation, deliver excellence and tackle barriers to growth.
Networking – our range of specialist events, group meetings and workshops enable members to directly consider and formulate policy and strategy, hear from key experts in the sector and meet other members to share ideas, experiences and new market opportunities. Providing members with the connections they need to compete and prosper.
Excellence – we drive excellence in assessment and awarding through continual improvement both for individuals through first class training and support for our member organisations through the identification and promotion of specialist research and good practice.
