The UK Skills Partnership (UKSP) has officially launched its latest Sector Survey, calling on organisations across the UK’s diverse skills and training ecosystem to contribute vital data that will directly influence the future of international education, skills exports, and sector growth.

Running until midnight on Sunday 14th June 2026, the survey is open to all UK-registered organisations, from individual consultants and SMEs to large multinational providers. Whether delivering a handful of international contracts or operating at global scale, every organisation is urged to take part and ensure their voice is heard.

A pivotal moment for the UK skills sector

The UK’s skills and training sector is a cornerstone of the country’s international education offer, supporting workforce development around the world while driving exports, innovation and economic growth. As delivery of the government’s international ambitions accelerates, there is a growing need for accurate, up-to-date evidence on the scale and scope of the sector’s global activity.

This survey sits at the heart of that effort. The data gathered will feed directly into the Sector Action Plan, due to be published on 1st August 2026, ensuring it reflects real delivery models, market opportunities and the full capability of the sector.

This important survey directly supports the priorities set out in the International Education Strategy 2026 which aims to strengthen the UK’s position as a global leader in education exports and international partnerships.

Who should respond?

UKSP is calling for participation from across the entire skills ecosystem. This includes:

  • All Colleges, UTCs and Institutes of Technology
  • Awarding organisations
  • Professional and Chartered bodies
  • Independent training providers and employer-providers
  • Language providers
  • Higher education institutions
  • EdTech, digital learning and classroom equipment suppliers
  • Skills equipment providers
  • Individual consultants
  • Sector Skills Councils and National Skills Academies

Put simply, any UK-registered organisation delivering skills or training programmes outside of the UK – in any country, sector or format – is encouraged to respond.

Whether you are an independent consultant working globally or a large organisation delivering complex international programmes, your data is critical.

Why your contribution matters

This survey is far more than a data collection exercise. It is a strategic opportunity for the sector to shape its own future.

The insights gathered will inform:

  • Sector Action Plans linked to the International Education Strategy
  • Targeted trade and export support for UK organisations
  • Policy decisions that address real barriers to international growth
  • Investment priorities across skills delivery, innovation and partnerships

Without robust evidence, there is a real risk that policies and support mechanisms are based on incomplete or outdated information. By contributing, organisations ensure that decisions are grounded in reality – reflecting the full diversity, scale and ambition of the UK skills sector.

Influencing policy through ESAG

The findings from this survey will also feed into the work of the Education Sector Action Group (ESAG)

ESAG plays a central role in shaping the UK’s international education priorities, working with government and industry to drive export growth, remove barriers, and strengthen the UK’s global position as part of the International Education Strategy

By contributing data, organisations are not only informing UKSP’s work — they are directly influencing the evidence base used by ESAG to guide national strategy and policy decisions.

Aligning with the UK Industrial Strategy

The survey is closely aligned with the UK Industrial Strategy, which places a strong emphasis on productivity, innovation and global competitiveness.

The skills sector is fundamental to this agenda. It enables industries to develop talent pipelines, respond to technological change and access international markets. Data from this survey will help demonstrate how UK skills provision supports:

  • Export-led growth
  • Innovation and digital transformation
  • Workforce development across priority sectors
  • The UK’s global reputation for high-quality education and training

By contributing, organisations help ensure the sector is fully recognised as a driver of economic success — not only in education policy, but across wider industrial and trade strategies.

A small investment with significant impact

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, but the impact of that contribution extends far beyond.

All responses will be treated as commercial-in-confidence, anonymised and aggregated. Individual organisational data will not be shared without explicit consent, ensuring a secure and trusted process.

Broad participation is essential. High response rates will ensure:

  • The full diversity of the sector is captured
  • SMEs and specialist providers are represented alongside large organisations
  • New and emerging delivery models — particularly digital and hybrid — are recognised
  • Policy and support measures reflect the real operating environment

A collective opportunity for the sector

At a time of rapid global change — from digital transformation and AI to the green transition and shifting skills demands — the UK skills sector has a unique opportunity to strengthen its global leadership.

But this depends on having a clear, credible and evidence-based understanding of its international footprint.

This survey provides exactly that opportunity: a chance for the sector to come together, articulate its value, and influence the policies and investments that will shape its future.
